Psaligraphic print: Ever Dauntless

‘Ever Dauntless’ can be bought as a numbered and signed psaligraphic print.

The original work was created over the course of a residency at Løgumkloster Refugium, an artists and writers’ retreat in southern Jutland. The cutting can be seen as a depiction of an entire life or just a day. Referring to the first verse line, the stone path leads to the goal – the end of the world, or death. A path can lead anywhere – some lines stretch out straight ahead, others divert off the path – but their destination is the same. The line “Never fear the power of darkness” is represented by the dark areas, but note the shimmering stars above them, while the Lord’s Prayer hails the parting day. The sentiment “Fight for all that you hold dear” is expressed in the organic forms pressing out of the dark areas.

A numbered psaligraphic print can be compared to a lithograph, which is also produced in a limited edition series.

While the psaligraphic cuttings on show at Museum for Paper Art were created using only scissors, Bit Vejle has developed an advanced digital multi-step technique for her one-off works, which enables her to create laser cuttings of exquisite quality. The prints differ from the exhibited original by, for instance, having handmade details. Every print is numbered, stamped, and signed.
The materials are carefully selected fine art products.
The paper is acid-free Hahnemühle 918, 280 gr/m2.
